Abstract

The study aimed to determine the implementation of work immersion in the public secondary schools in the Eastern Zone of the Division of Agusan del Norte. This study also gathered the experiences of students during their work immersion. Further, significant difference on the experiences of students in government agencies and private entities was also tested.

The respondents of the study were the 685 Grade 12 students which were determined through Raosoft software. Complete enumeration was employed with the eight school heads, eight work immersion teachers and 25 work immersion supervisors. The study utilized the descriptive-comparative survey method using four sets of instruments for the learners, school heads, work immersion teachers and work immersion supervisors. Frequency, percentage, weighted mean and U-test were the statistical tools used in the study.

Empowered National High Schools offered more courses while medium-sized National High Schools offered fewer number of courses offered in the Senior High School. The learners, school heads and work immersion supervisors agreed to all indicators of the implementation of work immersion. On the other hand, the work immersion teachers strongly agreed on the work immersion implementation.

Further, findings revealed that the experiences of the Senior High School students on their work immersion in government agencies and in private companies and entities significantly differed.

Furthermore, the researcher recommended that students be required to take the National Competency Test (NC II) before graduation. Passing the test will help the students easily find a job.
